Beta Mu Chapter is credited with having the first African American Homecoming Queen as well
as the first African American Female President of the Wayne State Student Council. Recently, its
members have held a variety of different offices on the Student Government ranging from
President (the second female African American President, Tiffany Moss) to treasurer,
member-at-large to college representative and budget committee members to program board
chairs. In addition, they have participated in many university committees such as the
Homecoming committee and the Board of Governors committees.
Although Beta Mu has been very politically active in and around the Wayne State Community,
service has continued to be at the heart of our chapter. Annually, Beta Mu has implemented a
number of community service efforts such as Sickle Cell Anemia Drives, Coats for Kids, and adopt a
child just to name a few. Through the years Beta Mu chapter has been involved with the NAACP
Life Membership, Toys for Tot, Yearly Health-O-Rama, Red Cross Blood Drives, Bone Marrow Donor
Drives, and Habitat for Humanity.
